Continuing the session project "A Novel of Gothic Taste", curator and art historian Sergey Khachaturov launched the exhibition "The Concert of Birds" dedicated to the image of birds in art. It is a common motif of the birds-musicians ensemble, which originates from the European art of the 17th-18th centuries and can be traced back to the Classical period.
Egor Koshelev and Leonid Tskhe, represented by OVCHARENKO gallery, suggested their own interpretation of the birds' concert. Egor Koshelev, on his behalf, served as a scenographer as well. The exhibition experience was designed to evoke a visit to a collector of curiosities. Implying the complexity of images of airless, floaty birds, the artists imagine them as symbols of perplexed themes in art history.
The exhibition takes place at the Small Palace of the Tsaritsyno Museum.

«The Tsaritsino manor was built in the Enlightenment period. Back then, the birds were believed to be heralds of gods, an allegory of the Kingdom of Heaven, symbols of virtues and vices. The person of the 18th century, a worshiper of nature, considered the birds, who exist in harmony with nature, as an etalon».
