Ryan Mosley
Ryan Mosley was born in Chesterfield in 1980. After studying at Chesterfield College of Art and Design, University of Huddersfield, the artist also completed a postgraduate degree at the Royal College of Art, London in 2007. During his studies, Mosley worked as a security guard at London's National Gallery. Days spent surrounded by the works of the Old Masters became one of the sources of inspiration in his own creative practice. Mosley synthesises artistic styles and movements, creating quaint works that combine modernity with a reference to eternal themes. The artist does not sketch, but instead uses a brush as a pencil to create large-scale works with layers of translucent washes. Mosley's works are filled with fantasy and theatre scenes, ambiguous and intriguing. The artist prefers to create a series of works, his paintings often form a coherent narrative that can be seen as a single work. In 2009, the first solo exhibition of Ryan Mosley in Russia took place at the OVCHARENKO Gallery (until 2018 Regina).
